“My Water, My Adventure”

#3 Journal, 4th April 2023

Another day has come, the sky was still dark, but the clock clearly says that it was 6 in the morning, meaning that it’s time to get up. We quickly take a shower and dress up, using today’s dresscode, which is the orange t-shirt. Today was different from the other days, because today we have to get on the bus at 7:20, which means that we only have at least 15 minutes to have breakfast. We grouped up in front of the cafe at 6:45, waiting for the door to open. After that we quickly ate breakfast and got on the bus at 7:25. Our ride to the school didn’t go too smoothly, as there was a traffic jam, so we arrived at the school later than we should have.

Today’s school was so much better than yesterday. I grew closer with my friends in the class. I had several lessons, for starters we had an assembly/CCE, which is a combination between Civic education and counseling. We talked and discussed mental health, where we had the chance to present. After that I had a Math and Chemistry tutorial. I ended my school by taking pictures with the entire class, it was so fun!!

Our next stop is the NEWater visitor center, an education hub that promotes water sustainability in Singapore and shares how NEWater is produced. This place is located in the East of Singapore and it took around 20 minutes to get there from Dunman HS. When we entered the place, we are guided to a theatre room where we watched a video about the water of Singapore. Then, the guide brought us to an interactive space where we can try a virtual boat simulation. We also saw a lot of facts regarding Singapore’s usage of water there. Next, we went to a room full of information such as the NEWater story and Singapore’s water technology written on the wall. The guide also showed us some videos regarding how water is processed. Although Singapore has a high frequency of occurrence of rainfall, it’s a severely water-stressed country due to the lack of land to collect and store the rainwater. But at the present, Singapore has reached its success in managing its water system. On our way back to the bus, we got to see the factory. It’s full of big pipes. Before we went to our next destination, we take a pledge to save more water by doing simple things in our daily life such as showering faster, using the washing water for mopping, etc. We also took a picture as proof that we’ve taken a pledge regarding water savings. This was a very useful visit for us because we can adapt the way the Singapore government solves their water problem with advanced technology to our water system in Indonesia.

We arrived at Jewel Changi Airport, it was so beautiful and aesthetic. We went to Irvins first. We heard a presentation about the Irvins factory, the history, product, their collaborations, etc. After that, they gave us time to try out some samples of their products and then almost all of us bought Irvins. Then, after we took photos with the Senior High School group, we were given an hour to explore the mall. In that 1 hour, we went to some stores, such as Muji, Apple store, and Nike. Afterwards, we were gathered at the terminal lobby and went straight to the bus.

For dinner, we ate at a Chinese restaurant called Sing Swee Kee Chicken Rice. We ate chicken, duck, fish, bean sprouts, and veggies. Then, we get back to our hotel to get a shower and finish our reports. We did our reports at Nixon and Sean’s room and we took about 30 minutes to finish the daily journal. Then we went to sleep to charge up for tomorrow’s activities.

Today’s highlight of the day is Rara’s prize. When the instructor gave us a question about what is CGP, Rara answered correctly with “Consumer Packaged Goods.” The instructor gave Rara an applause and gave her one large bag of Irvins salted egg fish skin.

After all was concluded, we can all agree that today was a fun day. Visiting jewel and irvins gave us many fun memories, and we wish to always cherish it.

Group three, Zooming out!.
