Today we didn’t need to wake up so early, so we can get enough rest from last night’s late night adventure. Already packed our belongings, we finally left our hotel for our last trip at nine.

The first destination today was the
Singapore Science Center. It was full of science stuffs from many different subjects. We learned a lot of new things there. Some of us also participated in their “DNA week” event, so we had to finish 3 activities to get a reward. For the first activity, we needed to put our names in a small tag, and then hang our tags on the traits tree’s branch. Basically each branch of the tree was for a specific trait of a person (like whether you have dimples or not, etc.) The second activity was the most exciting one, where we had to do a small experiment of extracting DNA from a strawberry juice. The last activity was to decode a phrase using clues given (it was connected to DNA coding). After that 3 activities, we finally got our 3d printed DNA key chain, and as an extra bonus we can also see how 3d printer works in person.

Our last meal at Singapore was a Korean all you can eat restaurant. We all ate as much as we can, all food are delicious. We also had around half an hour free time to stroll around Marina Square after that.

At last we went to the airport again.
In the airport, the first thing we did was looking for the right gate first, which was B1. We set gate B1 as the meeting point. Then we were given about 2 hours time, from 4-6, to explore terminal 3.
Not long after, it’s already 6:00, and we all start to gather around gate B1 and started the boarding process at 6:40. During the 40 minutes time, Lynn did a short speech in mandarin which was being recorded by Mr. Nando, also with some other friends, saying thank you to dunman and also Petra for giving us the student exchange experience.
6:40, we started boarding into the plane. About 7:10, the plane started to walk slowly, and about 7:40, the plane took off. Not long after, we were given food to eat. There were 2 choices rice with gulai chicken or bihun with black pepper beef. The food was delicious and was served warm by the flight attendants. We arrived in Surabaya at around 8:50, in terminal 2. Overall, the flight back to Indonesia was very nice. We would miss Singapore, but we were also happy to be back in Indonesia.

Highlight of today: A bittersweet feeling of getting back to Indonesia.

Today was a morning rush. We had to reach Dunman earlier because there will be a principal speech at the hall. His speech was about welcoming us go petra students. we then had CCE, which was interesting because we never had it in Indonesia. It was a group discussion session about mental health that we had to present later on. The dunman kids worked really fast on making the presentations. They looked enthusiastically with this program because they could express their opinion based on the most recent topic.

After school, we bid farewell with pictures, gift exchange and farewell letters exchange. It was a really emotional moment that made Britney and Elina cry. Many of our buddies promised that they would come to Indonesia one day. They have never been in Indonesia before, the place that they know only is just Bali. They don’t know exactly how Surabaya is. They were really excited to know about Petra Schools because they got informations that Petra is one of the best schools in Surabaya.

We then went to LTA to freely explore. We learnt about the land transportation in Singapore: how busses, MRT, and public transportation works. There was VR experience, theater, games, and real life experiences. We all rushed to the experience survey station after we knew we can get free things from it. This was a nice experience for us to know about how Singapore controls its public transportations so most citizens prefered to use them than driving their own cars. It can prevent the air pollution in this country. We hope one day Indonesia can apply this system so we can use public transportation every where.

After that, we went to Plaza Singapura to do free shopping for another. This was also amazing experience.

Finally we went to eat dinner and end the day. Tomorrow will be the last day of our PEP journey. We are really sad to know it. These five days will be an unforgettable moment for us. Besides, we also learn how to be more mature staying away from our parents.Highlight of the day was our farewell with our buddies. It was a touching farewell and we hope we can stay in touch with them.

This time we got plenty of time to eat breakfast, so we decided to take it easy in the morning. For some reasons I think we reached dunman too early as some of our buddies weren’t even there yet. But we had time to join morning assembly and flag raising in our own class. We sang National Anthem and School Song together with our new friends, continued by watching the election of the school council members in Dunman. Straight away, we started with the GP lecture in the auditorium where we learned how to analyze issues based on the value & values. Continued by the seminar regarding the lecture, where we made our own choice of a story and analyze our opinions on the group discussion. We brainstormed a lot with my buddy and we shared our own views.
Fina had her meal time and tried the korean food in the canteen.
Lynn decided to skip lunch, because she got out of class too late; and when she got to the canteen, it was already full and the queues are very long. So she decided to go back to the class and shared her snack with her buddies. Surprisingly all her buddies loved the snack and ate it all up at once.
The recess was for we went back to class for a CCA lesson discussing about our own awareness of student’s mental health. Moving onto the math class, we studied about graph and transformation together in a group. Finally at 2 pm sharp we finished the class.
We went to Oola perfume workshop, over there we got to make our own perfume. The first step was to find out the best fragrances that we liked, so there were many bottles of parfume base fragrances. Some were sweet like vanilla, some were fresh like citrus, there were weird ones too. We had a sheet of paper listing all of the frangrances, so we took turn smelling each one, and we marked the ones we liked on the paper. When that’s done, we were given small vials to try out different mixes of our favourite fragrances.
The last step was to convert our most favourite mix of parfume into ml, in total each of us got 11 ml of parfume. But it didn’t end there, we had a small surprise when the conductor of the workshop gave out free oola products by answering some of her questions. In our group, Brandon got one, it was a matcha scented candle.
For dinner we had bakuteh, it was really good, and we all loved it.
Then we went to vivo, funny thing was, most of the time was used for walking and running and not the shopping itself. At the end our group made it to the meeting point in time, when the others hadn’t come yet.
After we stroll through the Vivocity area, we went back to the bus and straight away headed to our hotel. Before we went into our own room, we were gathered with the teachers for some evaluation, and finally we can take a rest preparing for tomorrow’s school. Tomorrow will be started earlier so we have to be ready earlier too. Besides, tomorrow will be the last day at school. So sad when we realize it, but we hope we can meet our buddies and other new friends in Dunman when they come to Surabaya.

Highlight for today: It’s interesting when we practised how to make our own perfume and when we were closer with our buddies.

We did our usual morning and start our day with classes in Dunman. It turned out we were late for the class although we’d been running from the bus to the lobby area. The classes goes on with some lectures and tutorials and we went off the class at 1.30 pm. We started our tour at the NEWater, but we couldn’t really enjoy the area that much. Moving on to the most exciting part, Jewel Changi, there was this brief explanation of this popular snack called ‘irvins’ and indeed everyone bought tons of these snacks. We stroll around and found another ‘heavenly’ snack – tokyo milk cheese. Hence, some of us also bought the ice cream. After quite a while shopping at Jewel. We went for a delicious chicken rice dinner. We did a little prank to juan as if it was his birthday. We were celebrating ‘his birthday’ and definitely it was humiliating and hilarious at the same time. After having a filled stomach, the next thing to do is sleep. So we went back to relc hotel and did a short briefing about the time table tomorrow.
Highlight : We were amused by the huge waterfall in Jewel and enjoyed shopping there.

Although useful, these morning calls are annoying. Interestingly they sell “burnt cheesecake”, literally a burnt piece of cheesecake, and you need to pay 8 dollars.

Unfortunately it was raining, so we needed to use our umbrellas and raincoat to get to the bus.

First day school review:

Excited and full of hopes we started this 6 day long journey of living as Singaporeans. We passed through all the airport security with no problems. We boarded the plane and from there things got quite interesting.
